Dr. Steven R. Kraaijeveld is a Dutch philosopher, ethicist, and writer. He works at Amsterdam University Medical Center and is an associate fellow at the research consortium on the Ethics of Socially Disruptive Technologies.

His fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in ANMLY, Chicago Quarterly Review, Epiphany, L’Esprit Literary Review, Massachusetts Review, Maudlin House, MoonPark Review, North American Review, and The Spotlong Review. He was a finalist in Fugue’s 2025 Prose Contest, and his fiction has been nominated for Best Small Fictions (3x) and Best Microfiction (1x).

Steven spent his childhood in Prague, Shanghai, and Manila, where he completed his International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma. He briefly joined his family in Guangzhou before returning to the Netherlands to study. He obtained a BA/BSc in psychology/philosophy at University College Utrecht, an MSc (research) in social psychology at VU Amsterdam’s William James Graduate School, and an MA (research) in philosophy at Utrecht University. He completed his PhD at Wageningen University in 2023, after which he worked as a postdoc at Radboud University's Interdisciplinary Research Hub on Digitalization and Society.

He has a sweet little cat named Tai Tai (Mandarin for ‘lady of the house’). Aptly named, Tai Tai was adopted in Shanghai and is living her best life. She’s the perfect companion.
