Research

Life runs away from us before we know what it’s all about.
— Natalia Ginzburg, The Dry Heart

Bioethics, Medical Ethics, and Public Health Ethics

Much of my research focuses on ethical and philosophical questions surrounding (public) health, like the ethics of vaccination (the subject of my PhD), the ethics of public health interventions generally (e.g., lockdowns and quarantine measures), and the ethics of prevention (e.g., screening). I am also deeply interested in how public health and other aspects of social life are (inappropriately) moralized.

Philosophy and Ethics of Technology and AI

How are technologies changing human practices and the ways in which we interact with one another and the world around us? What are the effects of specific technologies like generative AI on practices like art and writing? To what extent ought we to worry about things like deepfakes?
